Time off for job hunting or to arrange training when facing redundancy. An employee who is given notice of dismissal because of redundancy is entitled to reasonable time off with pay during working hours to look for another job or make arrangements for training for future employment. The time off must be allowed during the period of notice. Of course, even with voluntary redundancies people still need time to find new jobs and retrain if necessary. If an employee has been continuously employed for two years by the end of their notice period, they’re legally allowed a reasonable amount of time off to look for another job. They can also use this time to arrange training or re-skill.

Redundancy situation is often faced when a person is concerned with trying to get another job or seeking training in order to be able to apply for other jobs. Notice of redundancy means that an employee is entitled to reasonable time off with pay during working hours to look for another job or make arrangements for training for future employment. Honestly, it just depends - it's just "reasonable". I don't even think 2 days off per week is written down in law anywhere, the law itself just stops employers forbidding you from finding new work, rather than mandating the exact number of days (which in reality would be impossible to do given the wide range of jobs and working hours).

If your employer offers you a suitable alternative job and you unreasonably refuse it, you may lose your right to statutory redundancy pay. If there is a dispute as to whether a job is suitable, or whether your refusal is unreasonable, an Industrial Tribunal can decide whether you are due a redundancy payment.
